I can feel my mind wandering again.

I have done absolutely nothing productive today. So far I've watched 5 episodes of the X-Files, ate some mini pizzas, a bag of chips, and spent way too much time on Tumblr. Ah, glorious Sundays.

I've bough a few things online recently.  This is rather new for me.  I haven't been a big online shopper for a couple reasons...

1. Online shopping is TOO EASY and I end up spending way more money than I would have in a store. For one reason or another it just doesn't feel like 'real' shopping to me because I don't have to hand over cash or scan a debit card.  And maybe not having the item in my possession immediately has something to do with that as well.
2. You never know who you can trust on the internet.  My friend had a terrible experience with Ebay and was ripped off quite badly by a seller.  I am certain this is rare but I tend to be overly cautious (read: paranoid) about things.

There are more reasons, but I don't want to ramble.  I've decided to try and get over this "fear" of online shopping... there have been so many beautiful things out there that I have drooled over and wished for, but I was simply too afraid to order them.  I don't think I am brave enough to buy clothes online yet, (the hassle I would have to endure if they didn't fit properly!) but you have to start somewhere, no?

So, I made an Etsy account.  My first couple purchases were Sailor Moon related.  One is a decal for my car window, it is the silhouettes of the 5 original Sailor Scouts.  The other is an image of the bow on the front of Serena's scout uniform that I can iron on to a shirt of my own! I love Sailor Moon and people were selling some great items but I didn't want to get too obsessive. I was proud that I was able to limit myself so well.

Also, I found a charger for my camera online that only cost me 20 dollars! Hopefully it will be arriving shortly, I made the order early last week. I'm looking forward to making some better posts in the near future.

I mentioned this in my first post, but I ordered some dread falls from Divinity Dreads.  They're based in Ontario, and their reviews are spectacular.  The dreads are totally customizable and 100% hand made.  The shop got in touch with me yesterday morning to let me know my falls are on their way! Canada Post estimates them to arrive on Tuesday. I'm so excited to play around with them. I have always wanted to do something wild with my hair... but unfortunately working at an office limits that quite drastically.  The dreads I ordered are black with some purple and blue transitioning ends.

Anyway, so much for not rambling.  Long post is long.

Do you have any tips on keeping yourself from spending too much money online? I would love to hear them if you do! I came thisclose to spending my entire paycheck on Etsy. Credit cards are both a blessing and a curse molded into thin, flimsy plastic.

  1. I don't know if you're into DIY but that's really the only thing that keeps me from buying everything in sight! I always try to make my own versions of all the pretty things that I see. And I only allow myself to buy things that I can't make myself. Like shoes and makeup!

By the way I tagged you for the Liebster Award on my blog =D

    1. I've made a few things, a couple bracelets/necklaces here and there when I was feeling particularly crafty, lol. I was happy with them but unfortunately my scope of talent doesn't go much beyond the easy stuff :(.

Thanks so much for tagging me!! I'm looking forward to answering your questions... you made some pretty interesting ones :D

  3. The best way is to avoid sites like ebay and etsy. :p

Another would be to go lock up ur credit card when visiting the sites.

    good luck though
